► Park assist – searches for suitable parking spaces along the road by means of ultrasonic sensors, calculates the ideal parking path and performs the steering action virtually automatically. The system can support the driver with:
► Parallel parking in reverse
► Exiting a parallel parking space, driving forwards
► Bay parking, both in reverse and forwards
Steering is performed by the vehicle, with the driver responsible for acceleration, gear changes and application of brakes and for monitoring the parking manoeuvre itself. When combined with Audi Side Assist (standard), also includes Cross-traffic assist rear
► Cross-traffic assist rear – warns the driver of traffic crossing behind their own vehicle when starting to reverse without having a clear view of the situation (e.g. perpendicular parking space with restricted view or narrow driveway). The system alerts the driver first visually and then acoustically via the MMI, and can apply a brake jolt if a potential collision is detected
► 360° camera – wide-angle lenses cover the close range area around the vehicle. The driver can choose between different image representations in the MMI display, including a live ‘bird’s-eye view’, a reversing camera view, kerb-side view or panorama front and rear view. The 360° camera is activated when reverse gear is selected or via a button
► Adaptive Cruise Assist – combines Adaptive Cruise Control with lane centre guidance to support the driver with accelerating, braking and maintaining distances, as well as helping them to stay in lane. Within system limits, Adaptive Cruise Assist uses the radar sensor built into the front of the vehicle, the front camera and the ultrasound sensor to continuously monitor the vehicle’s surroundings. The system maintains the speed and distance to the vehicle in front and conveniently helps the driver to stay in lane by means of gentle corrective steering intervention in the speed range from 0–124mph.* This can increase ride comfort, especially on long journeys and in congested traffic situations. Restart is triggered automatically or manually after having stopped briefly. The driver remains responsible for controlling the vehicle and can override Adaptive Cruise Assist at any time
► Camera-based traffic sign recognition – speed limit and traffic sign display via the Audi Virtual Cockpit. Detects speed limits (including temporary limits) and overtaking restrictions
► Advanced key – access and authorisation system that works through automatic data exchange between key and vehicle, allowing the driver to keep the car key in their pocket or bag at all times. To unlock and open, simply lift the exterior door handle. Pressing the start/stop button integrated in the centre console starts and stops the engine. Also includes an electric hands-free boot lid release sensor located underneath the rear bumper, which can be operated by a simple kicking movement below the sensor
► Emergency assist – if lane departure warning and Adaptive Cruise Assist are active and no driver activity is detected the system provides the driver with a visual, acoustic and haptic warning. If no response is detected after these warnings the vehicle is held in lane and the brakes are applied, reducing the vehicle to a standstill. The hazard warning lights are also activated
Vehicle driver assistance and safety systems are not a substitute for attentive driving. Drivers retain full responsibility for providing the necessary inputs for safe control of the vehicle.
